ANR CatACLiSM : Access to inter-nucleoside C-C links by metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions on glycal-type nucleosides
Postdoctoral Researcher in Organic Chemistry
Contract type Contrat (CDD) Category A Workload Fulltime
Scientific field Chimie
WorklJob Descriptionoad
Description of the offer The postdoctoral position will begin in January 2026 for a period of 12 months. It will be funded by an ANR project in collaboration with the group of Professor Angélique Ferry, who is leading the project, from the BioCIS laboratory at CY Cergy Paris University. The postdoctoral position will be carried out within the CB3S laboratory "Chimie Bioorganique, Biophysique et Biomatériaux pour la Santé" (UMR CNRS 7244) at the Sorbonne Paris Nord University (USPN) in Bobigny (https://www.univ-spn.fr/). One of the laboratory's research areas will be developed here and focuses on the synthesis of original organophosphorus molecules obtained through the development of new methodologies. Project Overview: The importance of oligonucleotides (ON) has driven chemists to develop efficient syntheses of these molecules. Currently, access to natural ON has become a competitive automated process. However, the natural bond is rapidly hydrolyzed in physiological media. Non-natural ON have therefore been explored to achieve greater stability, specificity, and less toxicity. In particular, ON with a C-C bond are of great interest due to their stability and similarity compared to natural ON. However, developing such a bond between two nucleosides remains difficult. The objective of this project is to offer an innovative alternative for the construction of unnatural 3’-linkages of nucleosides from easily accessible structures and to increase the structural scope of nucleosides. The strategy relies on the expertise of Prof. Angélique Ferry’s group in the use of metal-catalyzed cross-couplings (MCC) on glycal-type nucleosides (NuG), which are very rare in the literature. The postdoctoral contract specifically concerns the development of new non-hydrolyzable phosphorus bonds between two nucleosides and will use the recognized expertise of Prof. Marc Lecouvey’s team. For this, the synthesis of original phosphorus molecules will be carried out using new efficient methodologies that will have to be developed in order to introduce a new phosphorus motif at the level of the targeted oligomers. Profile: PhD in organic chemistry with expertise in phosphorus chemistry required. Experience in asymmetric synthesis would be a plus.
