Description of the offer The scientific objective of this position is to exploit Rydberg-atom quantum sensors to probe the near field of THz metamaterials and to image electromagnetic fields in the vicinity of subwavelength resonators. As a first step toward this long-term goal, the project aims to integrate THz metamaterials within an atomic vapor cell and interface them with cesium vapor atoms excited to Rydberg states using external laser excitation. This approach will enable the development of a novel and versatile photonic platform that couples atomic systems with metamaterials. This work constitutes one of the central objectives of the ANR PCR project ‘TERRA’. We are therefore seeking a research engineer who will contribute to the design and fabrication of this new generation of vapor cells and carry out initial experiments in Rydberg spectroscopy.
