Description of the offer Title: Co-designing coordinated care pathways for and with people suffering from mental illness in Seine-Saint-Denis PROJECT PRESENTATION Founded as a collaboration between Sorbonne Paris Nord University and the citizen inclusion platform known as La Trame, represented by the Objet B association, we draw on a collective experience of ‘ongoing action research’ conducted for more than ten years in Seine-Saint-Denis, which has led to the creation of innovative mechanisms in the field of recovery and peer support, while maintaining dialogue with other mechanisms and institutions at the local, national and international levels. The PRIME project addresses the growing global burden of mental health problems, particularly among vulnerable populations, by rethinking and transforming existing care systems. It adopts an innovative, environment-sensitive framework that emphasises the potential to address mental health as the result of the interaction between individual well-being, community dynamics and structural determinants of health. It is based on a prevention and health promotion perspective, involving local actors and citizens in the definition and implementation of mental health projects starting from local communities. PRIME is structured around four areas of work: 1. Defining a common theoretical framework and mapping local ecosystems, identifying stakeholders and gaps in current healthcare networks. 2. Assessing the needs of target populations through participatory research, with a focus on vulnerable groups. 3. Designing and setting up local community laboratories and permanent observatories on the ecosystem of mental health services and actions. 4. Defining tools for transposing and transferring effective practices to new contexts. The originality of this research lies in involving the people concerned and working with them and other mental health stakeholders to analyse the limitations of existing systems and the social innovations that need to be invented or promoted. We consider participatory research to be a social innovation in itself, and the methodology is therefore an integral part of what is being studied in this postdoctoral research. The proposed research project falls within the field of humanities and social sciences. The expected research method is based on a participatory science approach. This approach is itself an integral part of what is being studied. MISSIONS Collective tasks Participation in cross-disciplinary work initiatives (collective research seminars, inter-team meetings, workshops, research facilitation) is required throughout the postdoctoral contract. Tasks involving coordination between the various entities in France, Italy and Switzerland are expected, including setting up and supporting missions and preparing seminars or conferences. Individual research The postdoctoral researcher will develop original research within the framework of the project, aiming to contribute to a better understanding of the specific care needs of people with mental illness, their vulnerabilities and needs, in an urban area marked by poverty and immigration, considered a ‘medical desert’. Expected outcomes include mapping the community mental health ecosystem, creating local mental health laboratories and observatories, evidence-based policy recommendations, capacity-building programmes, and the development of interdisciplinary teaching modules on community mental health. Methodology: The research will adopt a participatory science approach. The candidate must have the skills to conduct: • Qualitative interviews: Conduct semi-structured interviews with stakeholders, social workers, public service agents, public policy makers, health professionals. • Participatory seminar: Leading diverse focus groups bringing together different stakeholders from the relevant field. Expected contributions: • Analysing, formalising, writing and publishing reports on the collective dynamics implemented (particularly the observatory), the review of needs, locally developed solutions, and comparisons with other countries/regions involved. SPECIAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS Field surveys will be conducted in Seine-Saint-Denis, with immersion in reception and care facilities. Missions will be carried out in Italy and Switzerland.
